£34m of Levelling-Up money, awarded to the city by the Government under the Conservatives, is at risk of being returned due to a lack of spending plans from the Labour-led City Council.
The funding was awarded to the city for regeneration of the Etruscan Square site in Hanley, and to be used for heritage sites in Longton, Stoke and Tunstall.
Whilst the Goods Yard project, which was also awarded Levelling-Up money under the Conservatives has been spent, thanks to the previous Conservative-led City Council, with the development now close to conclusion, other money remains unspent due to Labour ditching plans for an arena in Hanley and for the revival of the former Spode Pottery site in Stoke.
The City Council now has less than a year to draft plans and to begin work on further levelling up projects otherwise, the funding will be returned to central government.
The news follows other cuts by Labour, including the cessation of grants for heritage and culture, and the axing of the council's community development team.
Labour have no plans for Stoke-on-Trent and recent decisions suggest they don't care about our heritage.
