Cllr Beardmore recenty spent time out in her Blurton ward with volunteers from the newly formed community speed watch group.
The newly formed group will be targeting Drubbery Lane, Church Road and Seddons Estate, where issues with speeding traffic have been reported on numerous occasions over recent years.
Volunteers who have signed-up to join the group have completed training to prepare them for their new role.
Cllr Lorraine Beardmore said
"Since my election in 2019, one of the most consistent complaints I have received is about speeding vehicles along certain stretches of road."
"Having raised this on numerous occasions with the police and Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership and getting nowhere, I put out calls for volunteers to set up a community speed watch group. I am delighted with the response from the local community. It is fantastic that the group is now set-up and helping to make our community safer."
Reflecting on time spent with the speed watch group, Cllr Beardmore said
"Whilst I was out with them we caught more than 10 people within an hour driving at speeds in excess (some significantly so) of the limit.
One volunteer said the worst they’ve had was a driver doing 57mph along Drubbery Lane!"
