Labour Cancel Plans for Hanley Arena
Labour Council Leader Cllr Jane Ashworth has announced that ambitious Conservative plans for a 3,500 seater multi-purpose arena and convention centre are to be cancelled.
Announcing the decision during October's meeting of the Council, Labour have decided to abandon the plans and replace them purely with residential properties.
Opposition Leader, Cllr Daniel Jellyman said
"The decision to abandon plans for the arena show the lack of vision and ambition Labour have for our city. By cancelling plans for the arena and conference venue, Labour have taken away job opportunities, removed a tourist destination and this will hold back the regeneration of Hanley. It is clear, Labour have no plans, no vision and no ambition for our city."
