Today, the government annouced that they are investing £13.4 million for a brand new unit at the Royal Stoke Hospital Emergency Department to help ambulance transfers and assessments for surgery, freeing up and estimated 50 beds elsewhere in the hospital.
This investment into the Royal Stoke will help patients move out of A&E more quickly and help more patients receive same day urgent and emergency care.
Jo Gideon MP for Stoke-on-Trent Central said
"I am delighted by the news that government are investing £13.4 million for a brand new unit at the Royal Stoke Hospital Emergency Department in my constituency to help ambulance transfers and assessments for surgery, freeing up and estimated 50 beds elsewhere in the hospital."
Dr Chandra Kanneganti, Conservative Candidate for Stoke-on-Trent Central said
"As a GP, I know first-hand the strain on ambulance services and on our hardworking paramedic colleagues and often times ambulances can't get out to those in need because they are queuing outside the emergency department behind us. This crucial investment towards a new unit at the ED will certainly go a long way in cutting down this waiting time and ensuring our loved ones can get access to emergency services in a timely manner."
